Administrative Structure & Tasks

The administrative structure of the district office

The district authority is a spatial unit (territorial unit), an independent institutional unit (legal person under public law, corporation) and an organizationally closed administrative institution (administrative unit).

The district is first and foremost a municipal bearer of public duties. As an administrative unit with legal capacity, it carries out certain public affairs related to its territory in the form of a territorial entity, by its own right, according to its own resolution and under its own responsibility as public tasks.

The District Office shall also carry out a range of administrative matters of the state in which the District or an organ of the District shall act as a lower state administrative authority. In this respect, the County Administrative Office is a part of the state administrative structure.
