Student BAföG

The aim of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is to give every young person the opportunity to complete a school or university education that matches their abilities and interests, regardless of their social and economic situation. Students with proven need (insufficient own or parental income, no assets ), receive support in the form of a grant (50%) and an interest-free loan (50%) from the beginning of the education, at the earliest at the time of application.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) provides further comprehensive information on BAföG on its website, in particular on the eligibility requirements, the forms to be completed when submitting an application, the responsible offices for training assistance, and the procedural status of the 23rd BAföG Amendment Act.
