The Nature and Environment Agency is looking for applicants for the Federal Volunteer Service and for a Voluntary Ecological Year in the environmental field

The Landkreis Börde offers the Federal Volunteer Service in the field of environment for three volunteers. The central office of the Federal Office for Family and Civil Society Tasks will provide, as long as the quotas are available, arrangement opportunities for volunteers under 25 years from March to November 2019 (duration maximum 12 months).Applicants do not need any previous ecological knowledge, necessary is commitment and interest in working in the great outdoors.The Landkreis Börde has a diverse natural environment. It extends from the northern Harz foreland to the Drömling in the northwest and the Elbe in the northeast. Parts of the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide belong to it as well as the Flechtinger Höhenzug, forests of the Lappwald or the central and high Börde.

Various tasks in nature, species and landscape protection have to be done:

  • Construction, supervision and dismantling of amphibian protection fences along numerous and busy roads in the district,
  • Landscape maintenance work inside and outside protected areas and objects,
  • Species protection measures, such as counts, mapping, inventories, as well as
  • observations, construction and maintenance of information facilities

The area of operation covers the entire Landkreis Börde. The journey to the places of action takes place by a service vehicle provided for the federal volunteers. Starting point is the administrative building of the administrative Landkreis Börde in Haldensleben, Bornsche Str. 2. The possession of a valid car driver's license is a prerequisite. Accommodation and meals will not be provided.

The Landkreis Börde is also a recognized place of employment for the Voluntary Ecological Year. Applications for a Voluntary Ecological Year should be submitted to the

The possibilities for volunteering at the nature conservation authority are manifold and range from practical measures in species protection to work with a geographic information system. The goals in the Voluntary Ecological Year are determined personally with the volunteer participant. For example, the volunteer can prepare for an intended course of study or support the choice of a profession.
