Admission to secondary schools after completion of elementary school

For pupils who live in the Landkreis Börde

For the secondary schools of the school forms grammar schools, secondary schools and community schools the school authority has determined school districts and school catchment areas completely or partially àlink to the statute on the determination of school districts and school catchment areas for general education schools in the sponsorship of the Landkreis Börde. This means that pupils attend a school of the chosen type of school (course of education) according to the determined school district or school catchment area. There is a legal entitlement to admission to a school of the chosen course of education, but not to a specific school of this course of education. The binding enrollment at a secondary school is always made with the "Schullaufbahnerklärung" (school career declaration).

Should the wishes of all fourth graders indicated on the "Schullaufbahnererklärung" exceed the specified admission capacity of a school for which no school catchment area or school district has been defined, a lottery procedure will be carried out as an admission procedure. Enter an alternate preference in addition to the initial preference on the school career statement. Only initial requests can be considered in the lottery procedure. In a lottery procedure, the substitute wish will only be granted if.

1. no positive lot was drawn in the lottery procedure and 2. there is still admission capacity at the alternative school of choice.

If there is no admission possibility at the alternative school of choice, the school authority will provide a place at a school of the chosen course of education which still has admission capacity. The above-mentioned legal entitlement is thus fulfilled.

At some schools, the child must be registered directly at the school:

Schools with a content focus and
schools with independent sponsorship.

These schools notify the school board of their admission decisions. The Office of Education and Culture will be happy to advise you on this. Please refer to the following pages for specific school type-related information. Schools with a content focus have a supra-regional catchment area, i.e. students from the Landkreis Börde can also be admitted.

For pupils living outside the Landkreis Börde

Pupils from outside the Landkreis Börde (pupils whose main place of residence is outside the Landkreis Börde) should always contact the school authority responsible for their place of residence. An intended move into or out of the Landkreis Börde up to the beginning of the 5th school year should, if possible, be reported to both the sending and receiving school authorities or in the school career declaration in good time before the admission procedures.

Change of school

Students who change their place of residence while attending school may, upon request, continue to attend their school until the completion of their educational program.

When a change of school becomes necessary:

You deregister your child in writing from the school he/she has attended up to now and register him/her at the school that is now responsible.
