Inclusion at the reception in the Haldensleben district administration

Last week, the colleagues at reception received support from Mr. Beck from Lebenshilfe Ostfalen.

He completed a one-week internship in the information and reception department at the district administration office in Haldensleben. Mr. Beck has limited mobility and uses a wheelchair to get around.

It was clear from the outset that this was not just an internship, but an active contribution to inclusion. The attitude of the colleagues at reception was exemplary. Care was taken to ensure that the workplace was barrier-free and the team showed remarkable sensitivity in dealing with the intern's specific needs.

Andrea Watteroth, Participation Officer for the Börde district, is delighted with the commitment in the building: "This is a living example of how inclusion in the working environment is not only possible, but can also lead to enrichment for everyone involved. It was a great initiative by the colleagues in the Office of Facility Management to provide an internship."

The week was characterized by a lively exchange of experiences and skills. The intern not only contributed his qualifications, but also inspired the team with his positive attitude and perseverance. Even though some processes were not easy for him, Mr. Beck was very grateful for the insights he was able to gain. In the future, he can imagine completing an internship in other areas of the district administration office. And who knows what this could lead to for everyone involved.

The internship came about as a result of the shift change day in October, during which employees from a workshop for disabled people swapped their workplace with administrative staff for a day.
