Manfred Witzel receives the state's badge of honor

On behalf of the district administrator, Zielitz mayor Stefan Crackau presented the Saxony-Anhalt state badge of honor to Manfred Witzel, chairman of the Scholle von Calvörde e.V. miners' association.

His outstanding commitment ensures a full calendar of events for the association and an important representation of mining and its traditions. The award was presented as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the association.

"With your tireless work, you have breathed lasting life into the association and thus not only promote the life of the association, but also strengthen the entire region. In this way, the mining tradition is cultivated and carried on," said Stefan Crackau, summarizing Manfred Witzel's work on behalf of District Administrator Martin Stichnoth.

In addition to his decades of voluntary work, Manfred Witz el has been the driving force behind the "Scholle von Calvörde" as chairman of the association. In particular, the close ties to the members and the good cooperation with those responsible at the Zielitz potash plant were important prerequisites for the consistently successful work of the miners' association. Informative guided tours of the slagheap on the "Kilimanjaro" attract thousands of visitors every year.

In addition, the Zielitz Miners' Association is also regularly represented at events and meetings of miners', smelters' and miners' associations beyond the state borders, thereby strengthening the association's national reputation.

The Saxony-Anhalt State Badge of Honour is awarded by the Minister President as a sign of recognition for many years of outstanding voluntary work or for going above and beyond the call of duty.
