Börde district honours family-friendly companies in 2025 - awards ceremony held for the third time

For the third time, companies and institutions in the Börde district have been honoured for their special commitment to reconciling work, family and care. The "Family-friendly company in the Börde district" award ceremony took place yesterday evening and honoured companies that have distinguished themselves through innovative, practical and sustainable family-friendly HR policy measures.

Award-winning companies and institutions 2025

The following employers received the award this year:

  • Municipality of Barleben
  • Dentist Dr Düerkop
  • Municipality of Flechtingen
  • Municipality of Hohe Börde
  • HORIBA FuelCon GmbH
  • Physiotherapy practice Kempka
  • City of Wanzleben

They all impressed the jury with their individual solutions and concrete measures to make working hours more flexible, to support carers, to encourage parents and to create family-friendly working conditions.

"The family is the foundation of our society. Without it, there is no togetherness, no mutual respect, no trust." emphasised the importance of a family-friendly corporate culture in her speech.

She emphasised how challenging it often is to combine family commitments with professional demands. It is therefore all the more important to recognise employers who relieve the burden on their employees through flexible models, mobile working, part-time options, return-to-work programmes or cooperation with childcare facilities.

"The companies and institutions being honoured today prove that high performance and family friendliness are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary: they strengthen each other," adds Marco Gravert, Head of the Börde Job Centre.

"Family friendliness has long since become a decisive factor for a company's attractiveness on the labour market. Companies that cater to the needs of their employees are recommended to others and attract motivated skilled workers."

Background: The "Family-friendly company" award

The award has been presented by the district of Börde together with the Börde Job Centre since 2023. It was developed by the Local Alliance for Families Börde and regional partners. The aim is to make family-friendly HR policies visible and to encourage employers in their commitment.

Family friendliness is now regarded as one of the most important factors in attracting and retaining qualified specialists. Studies show that appropriate measures not only increase employee motivation and identification, but also reduce absenteeism and contribute to competitiveness in the long term.

The jury - consisting of representatives from business, administration, public welfare and family organisations - evaluates the documents submitted, visits the company and makes recommendations for the award.

The district of Börde invites all employers to continue on the path of family-friendly personnel policy - not only as a sign of social responsibility, but also as a strategic advantage in the competition for skilled labour
