Winfried Künne was honoured for his decades of voluntary work in Domersleben. As the driving force behind the shooting club, he campaigned for the maintenance and redesign of the peace memorial, restored historical candelabras in Wanzleben and Magdeburg and made a significant contribution to preserving local traditions. He also made a name for himself as an innovative inventor and was granted a German patent for the development of an electric bath lift.
Erhard Jahn from Wolmirstedt received the badge of honour for his outstanding services to the preservation of monuments and local history. As a civil engineer, district monument conservator and chairman of several cultural and heritage associations, he dedicated himself to the preservation and restoration of historic buildings, churches and mills for decades. With the development of the "Weber's Hof" cultural and event centre in Farsleben as well as numerous publications and lectures, he also made important contributions to knowledge transfer and cultural education.
"With Winfried Künne and Erhard Jahn, we are honouring two personalities who have made a unique contribution to our home region. Both combine tradition with innovation and have thus decisively enriched the cultural heritage of our district," explained District Administrator Martin Stichnoth.
The Saxony-Anhalt State Badge of Honour recognises citizens who are particularly committed to volunteering and whose work strengthens the community in the long term.
