50 years of active community work deserve special recognition. Through numerous voluntary commitments, initiatives, participations and projects, Dr. Eckhart Beichler has rebuilt community life in Sommersdorf and left a lasting mark on it. His commitment as a local councillor over 18 years - a period of time that no one before him had ever achieved - and longstanding chairmanship of the cultural and social committee also leaves clear traces. Exemplary for his multifaceted work, which ran through all areas of community life:
- joint repair of the steeple and the church roof of the Sommersdorf church
- Organization and realization of church services also in Low German
- Support of the male choir "Glück auf" as singers, musicians and choirmaster
Especially his personally conceived and with high commitment implemented projects "Kleiner Ortsanzeiger Rund um Dorn und Born" and "KONSUM-Gespräche" survive until today and have inspired fellow campaigners from all three districts.
The work of Dr. Eckehart Beichler was and is characterized by humanism, selflessness and determination. He is always concerned with bringing people together, enabling an exchange, supporting each other and working together for village life.
