Lecture: The Ohre - from the source to the estuary

On 10 October 2025 at 19:00, the Wolmirstedt Museum invites you to a lecture on the River Ohre. In her lecture, museum director Anette Pilz will talk about the Ohre, from its source in Lower Saxony to its mouth in Saxony-Anhalt near Rogätz.

The Ohre, whose former names were Ohra, Ara, Horana and Ora, originally meant "incised stream".

The Ohre's route from its source to its mouth is 103 kilometres. On its way through Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, it passes various towns and was a border river between the two German states.

The lecture is about the places along the Ohre, watermills and buildings, some of which have long since disappeared.
