District Administrator presents badge of honor to Christel Ebeling from Wefensleben

At the weekend, District Administrator Martin Stichnoth awarded Ms. Christel Ebeling the Saxony-Anhalt badge of honour for her outstanding voluntary work. As a former German and sports teacher, she has been involved in politics, sport and other social projects for the people of the Börde district for decades.

Numerous active memberships in the Wefensleben municipal council, the Obere Aller municipal council, on the board of TSV Wefensleben 1990 e.V. in the role of equal opportunities officer and as a former member of the district council in the old district of Wanzleben characterize her diverse work.

From 2016 to 2020 in particular, Christel Ebeling proactively helped with the integration of refugees in the municipality of Wefensleben. Her expertise as a German teacher helped people to learn German and pass a qualified language test. Despite some opposition, she never allowed herself to be dissuaded from her plans.

"Christel Ebeling's clear stance for the fundamental values of freedom and democracy deserves the respect of us all and therefore the badge of honor of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. People like her, who selflessly get involved in many areas of life in the form of voluntary work, strengthen the sense of community in the village, in the municipality and in the entire Börde district," said District Administrator Martin Stichnoth, summarizing the importance of Christel Ebeling's work.
