Dr Marcus Waselewski, deputy mayor of the Börde district, explains:
"The new statutory regulation now provides a reliable framework for setting the district levy. It takes real expenditure into account and thus creates stability for municipal financing."
By defining concrete, objectively comprehensible criteria, the determination of the district levy becomes transparent. The Börde district sees this as a great opportunity to strengthen the municipal family and avoid conflicts between the districts and the municipalities belonging to the district in future.
At the same time, the change in the law will relieve the administrative courts and allow resources to be focussed more on the core municipal tasks in the interests of the citizens.
Another positive aspect: from 2026, the collection rate will also be regulated on the basis of statutory obligations.
Conclusion of the alderman:
"The changes to municipal constitutional law are an important step towards further successful cooperation at eye level in the municipal family - objective, fair and sustainable."
