As at the première, the focus was not on the sporting competition, but on the shared experience and the joy of people with and without disabilities working together. The project was initiated by the Börde/Helmstedt Inclusion in Sport working group. In addition to the district of Börde, it also includes the district of Helmstedt, the town of Haldensleben, the Börde District Sports Association and Lebenshilfen Ostfalen and Helmstedt-Wolfenbüttel.
A total of six mixed teams, each with six players, took part in the tournament, including the two district councillors Gerhard Radeck and Martin Stichnoth as well as District Sports Association President Torsten Fieseler, Vice President Knut Förster and Managing Director Florian Bortfeldt. Fabian Melzer moderated and commented on the programme for the audience. The organisers also received active support from pupils of the Julianum Helmstedt, who were committed to catering for the participants.
In order to consciously break down existing barriers and facilitate new encounters, the teams were drawn by lot before the start of the tournament. After the welcoming speeches by the two district administrators and the headmaster of Julianum Helmstedt, the spectators were able to watch a total of 15 fair and varied matches, each lasting seven minutes.
District Administrator Martin Stichnoth drew a positive conclusion: "The tournament thrives on the shared experience and that is precisely what makes it so valuable. I really enjoyed playing, even though I soon realised that it is more strenuous than it looks at first glance. In the end, everyone comes away as a winner."
Further inclusive activities are already being planned.
