Family friendliness pays off! Starting signal for the "Family-friendly company in the district of Börde 2025" award

Just in time for International Family Day on 15 May, the new round of applications for the "Family-friendly company in the Börde district" award is starting. Companies, institutions and public organisations based in the Börde district can now apply - and send out a strong signal.

Today's skilled workers are looking for more than just a good salary - they are looking for employers who think along with them. Flexible working hours, home office models, support with childcare or for family carers - those who take families seriously gain loyal and motivated employees. Companies that live this responsibility are at an advantage - on the labour market and in their own team.

The award recognises companies that impress with a modern and family-oriented HR policy. Since 2023, the award has been presented annually by the district of Börde together with the Börde Job Centre - to committed employers who actively shape the compatibility of work, family and care.

"Family friendliness is more than just an extra - it is a strategic success factor," emphasises District Administrator Martin Stichnoth, patron of the award. "Those who act in a family-friendly way today will secure the skilled workers of tomorrow. The award is your chance to make this commitment visible - both internally and externally. Set an example - for your employees and for our region." Katja Klommhaus, Equal Opportunities Officer for the Börde district, also emphasises the importance of this: "Every company has different opportunities - whether it's a small business or a large corporation. But they all have one thing in common: with well thought-out solutions, they can support their employees at every stage of their lives. We want to make these ideas visible and encourage others to follow suit."

All companies, institutions and public organisations based in the Börde district that are already implementing measures to improve the compatibility of work, family and care are eligible to apply. The closing date for applications is 15 July 2025.

The application form and further information can be found on the websites of the Börde district and the Börde job centre. The application is uncomplicated, free of charge and requires little time - but it can make a big difference in the long term.

The municipal equal opportunities officer Katja Klommhaus will be happy to answer any questions you may have. She can be contacted on 03904 7240-1301 and by e-mail at gleichstellung(at)landkreis-boerde.de.
