Anyone wishing to use the digital vehicle registration certificate can set it up themselves via the i-Kfz app. To do so, you must have an activated identity card with an online identification function (eID) and the corresponding PIN. The app guides you step by step through the registration process.
For many members of the public, this is a straightforward way to make their vehicle documents available digitally and have them to hand at all times.
Support from the registration authority
Not everyone has the technical capabilities or feels confident using digital applications. That is why the Motor Vehicle Registration Authority for the Börde district offers additional support.
Residents can apply to the vehicle registration authority for a QR code for the digital vehicle registration certificate. This allows the vehicle to be added to the app quickly and easily.
The QR code is issued free of chargewhen a vehicle is newly registered or the registration is transferred to a new owner.
For vehicles that are already registered, the QR code can be applied for retrospectively. A fee of 5.10 euros applies for this.
