With the 2nd construction phase now planned, the following results will be achieved: The barrier-free development of the museum will be implemented. The exhibition rooms in the north wing will be extensively renovated and equipped with museum technology. The previously undeveloped attic rooms in the west and north wings will be converted into unheated archive and storage areas for museum goods as part of the necessary roof renovation work. The unrenovated gatehouse will be prepared for the museum administration, the archive and the library. In this context, the sanitary facilities for museum visitors will be upgraded on the first floor, including barrier-free access. The current cramped administration, archive and library area in the west wing will be converted into a meeting hall for lectures and events after the functions are relocated to the Torhaus. The current small meeting room will be used for educational museum projects in the future through remodeling. Construction work will begin in 2020 and continue until June 2021.
