School Route Helpers

In cooperation with GFSA "Ganzheitliche Förderung Sachsen-Anhalt", the district of Börde implements the project "Schulweghelfer". This measure is supported by funding from the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The aim of the project is to recruit pupils from the 7th grade in the Börde district as school route helpers. This is done through extensive training in the areas of traffic rules, proper behavior in traffic and on the way to school, as well as first aid, conflict prevention and proper behavior on and around the bus as school route helpers. It is a combination of school bus escort and crossing guard program. At the end of the training, the students are to be deployed on school routes in order to prevent unrest, conflicts and arguments on the bus on the one hand, and on the other hand to support road crossings in the school area, to take over bus stop supervision and to prevent pushing and shoving at bus stops.

The training is carried out by various experts, such as the Landesverkehrswacht Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. or the police. After completion of the training, members of the project steering group and the district coordinator continue to provide technical and content-related support to the active school crossing helpers.

The state of Saxony-Anhalt finances the project and supports the Börde district in terms of personnel and content in the implementation of the project.
