A total of twelve vehicles were inspected - seven animal transports (including one transport each of piglets, cattle, calves, two of pigs and two of poultry) and five food transports.
Minor offences were found in the animal transports, including inadequate records in the livestock trade and disinfection control book, inadequate group partitions and unclosed manure outlets. Administrative offence proceedings will be initiated in these cases.
In the area of food transport, two transports of plant-based foodstuffs were inspected without any complaints. There were minor deficiencies in the documentation for three other vehicles, which were discussed on site and will be rectified for future transports.
"Such inspections are an important part of the preventative monitoring of animal and food transports," explains District Administrator Martin Stichnoth. "They not only serve animal welfare, but also the safety and quality of food on its way to the consumer."
The district of Börde will continue to organise regular focus campaigns in close cooperation with the responsible inspection authorities in order to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
