The Landkreis Börde impresses with its leisure and recreational opportunities, churches and monasteries worth seeing, castles and palaces, museums and historical monuments. Geographically, this district is located as a link between the low mountain range country and the North German lowlands. The district derives its special charm from the diversity of its landscapes. From the fertile Börde in the south, the largest contiguous black earth area in Germany, the Börde Landkreis extends to the north to the meadow and swamp landscape of Drömling. Forested mountain ranges and the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide with the largest closed linden forest in Europe characterize the center of the district.
