Once again this year, the Börde district is taking part in the nationwide warning day for the fifth time. Regular functional tests are important in order to make the population aware of the available warning devices, but also to check their organisational and technical functionality. Warning apps, digital systems and other warning devices only work if they are actively used by the population. At night, for example, sirens are the most important means of effectively warning the population.
This year, the mobile radio service Cell-Broadcast will also be used to warn and inform the population. Cell-Broadcast can send warning messages to all mobile devices (smartphones and conventional mobile phones) that are set up and ready to receive them and are located in a specific section of the mobile network. This means that all mobile phones that are logged into a mobile phone mast receive an automatic message, similar to an SMS.
All 279 sirens in the Börde district will sound on 11 September 2025 at 11:00 (all-clear at 11:45) to raise public awareness and to check the organisational and technical functionality of the warning systems. The Modular Warning System (MoWaS) will also be supplied with a test message from the national warning centre. This service in turn supplies various warning applications for mobile devices, for example the warning apps NINA and KATWARN.
The signal on 11 September at 11:00 a.m.
A one-minute wailing sound goes up and down to warn of "general danger" in times of peace, the so-called disaster alarm or the air alarm in the event of defence.
The sirens are owned by the towns and municipalities and are maintained and serviced by them. The digital siren control receivers are provided by the district of Börde. The sirens are controlled by the integrated control centre of the district of Börde, for example for emergency alerts based on an alarm and call-out order for the fire brigades, which is issued by the municipalities belonging to the district.

Evaluation / Survey
The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) is once again conducting a survey on Warning Day this year. The aim is to give citizens the opportunity to provide feedback, to collect experiences and to analyse the technical functioning and effect of the warning and the warning devices. Warning devices are all "end devices" or applications available to people, such as radio and television, websites, social media, digital city information boards, warning apps, loudspeaker vans or sirens.
Participation in the survey will be possible on the warning day, 11 September 2025 from 11 a.m. for 7 days on the website www.warntag-umfrage.de.
