Rottmersleben and Groß Santersleben successful in the state competition "Our village has a future"

As part of the 30th State Harvest Festival, Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of Agriculture Sven Schulze honoured the winning villages of the 12th state competition "Our village has a future". Two villages from the Börde district were among those honoured: Rottmersleben and Groß Santersleben.

Both villages had previously qualified for the competition at state level as district winners. A total of 22 villages from the Börde district took part in the competition at district level - impressive proof of the strong commitment and diversity of our region.

Rottmersleben and Groß Santersleben were each awarded bronze and prize money of 1,250 euros. Groß Santersleben also received a special prize for its welcoming culture, which increased the prize money to 1,750 euros.

District Administrator Martin Stichnoth emphasised: "Our villages are not just places to live - they are the heart of our homeland. The fact that two communities from the Börde district have been honoured at state level is an impressive demonstration of the commitment, creativity and cohesion with which our citizens shape their communities. This commitment makes life in rural areas attractive, liveable and sustainable."

A total of 14 villages across the country were honoured for their innovative concepts and projects in areas such as village development, sustainability and strengthening the village community. The high level of participation made it possible to select three state winners this year, who will represent Saxony-Anhalt in the national competition in 2026.

The "Our village has a future" competition has been recognising the special achievements of rural communities since 1990 and aims to provide impetus for sustainable, liveable development. The fact that villages from the Börde district have been successful time and time again emphasises the strength and future viability of our region.
