Summary of past discussion events in connection with the establishment of an advisory board for people with disabilities in the Börde district

Under the theme: "Not without us - about us", the local participation management of the Börde district has organised four regional discussion events in recent weeks in preparation for the establishment of an advisory board for people with disabilities.

Numerous affected persons, representatives from politics, administration, integration assistance facilities, professional associations and other interested parties took the opportunity to find out about the tasks of an inclusion advisory board.

A wide range of wishes for an inclusion advisory board were collected and should be taken up and implemented by the advisory board wherever possible.

Here are some examples:

  • Creation of low-threshold access,

  • Administrative services close to citizens (personal advice and support - without mobile phones and computers),

  • barrier-free educational, leisure and housing programmes for people with disabilities,

  • Accessibility in speech, writing and public spaces,

  • more flexibility on buses and trains,

  • Networking of the advisory board with other advisory boards

  • Improving participation opportunities for all,

  • close involvement of those affected,

  • Support with the provision of necessary aids,

  • free media offers,

  • sensitising employers to the employment of people with disabilities.

Many of the participants expressed their interest in participating in an inclusion advisory board. However, a number of tasks still need to be completed before it can be established.

A working group made up of interested parties and those affected will draw up a concept for the inclusion advisory board, which will define the tasks, composition and working methods of the advisory board.

The specific needs and concerns of people with disabilities in the Börde district will be taken into account.

Furthermore, this working group will organise and conduct the election of the Inclusion Advisory Council. This includes determining the election modalities, public relations work to inform voters and the organisation of the election itself.

The working group will work closely with the district administration to ensure that the Inclusion Advisory Council is set up and starts work smoothly.

Are you also interested in joining the Inclusion Advisory Council? Then you can apply to the Börde district's inclusion officer, Mrs Watteroth.
