Börde district once again recognised for its family and life-phase-conscious HR policy - certificate awarded as part of the berufundfamilie audit on 17 June 2025 in Berlin

The district of Börde has once again been recognised for its strategic and sustainable family and life-phase-conscious HR policy. At the 27th certification ceremony in Berlin on Tuesday, Councillor Dr Marcus Waselewski and Head of Human Resources Julia Herzberg-Ebeling accepted the audit berufundfamilie certificate. The recertification was officially confirmed on 10 December 2024.

The certificate awarded by berufundfamilie Service GmbH in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth is recognised nationwide as proof of a modern, employee-oriented HR policy in the public sector.

"This recertification is an important confirmation of our consistent approach to creating family-friendly and modern working conditions for our employees," emphasises Waselewski. "In times of a shortage of skilled labour, we are focusing on flexible working time models, life-phase-oriented personnel development and an administrative culture that actively promotes individuality and quality of life."

In the period from May 2021 to December 2024, numerous measures were successfully implemented in the Börde district, including the revision of the service agreement on mobile working, the introduction of a company health management system, an attractive remuneration incentive system and a wide range of support services for employees with children or relatives in need of care. These steps have noticeably improved the company's flexibility and attractiveness as an employer.

With around 1,000 employees, the Börde district is one of the larger public employers in Saxony-Anhalt. For years, the administration has played a pioneering role in reconciling work and private life. This commitment has been confirmed once again by the berufundfamilie audit.

Further steps are planned for the new auditing period from December 2024, including the increased use of feedback and participation tools, the promotion of age-conscious HR policies and the further qualification of managers with regard to work-life balance issues.

The Börde district administration sees the promotion of family- and life-phase-conscious working conditions not as a short-term project, but as a long-term strategic goal - in the interests of all employees and to strengthen the public sector as an attractive employer.
