The event will take place from 16:00 to 17:45 in the rooms of the memorial and is free of charge.
The reading will be given by Dr Jochen Voit, historian and author, and the artist and activist Lilya Matveeva. Both will provide insights into the background to the work, which is based on a true German-German love story.
The focus is on topics that have lost none of their topicality to this day: political imprisonment, state repression and the impact of political systems on individual lives. The graphic novel also builds a bridge to the current situation in Russia, where political persecution and restrictions on freedom of expression are once again playing a central role.
Following the reading, all guests are cordially invited to a small snack and open discussions. The event offers a space for dialogue about historical experiences, current political developments and the significance of art and the culture of remembrance.
