Bees are essential to our lives. Through their pollination work, they make a significant contribution to biodiversity and provide food for humans and animals - in keeping with the motto: "Small pollinators, big impact". In addition to honey bees, there are around 30,000 wild bee species worldwide. It is estimated that around 550 species live in Germany, almost half of which are endangered.
Despite this, bee populations continue to decline. That is why we are all called upon to treat "Maja, Willi and Co." with care. Even small changes in everyday life can make a big difference: For example, by not using chemical pesticides, planting wildflower areas on your own property or taking measures such as:
- Creating species-appropriate nesting aids
- Planting bee-friendly flowers
- Leaving unmown areas unmown
- Avoiding the use of pesticides
- Conscious honey consumption
Everyone can make a contribution! You can also find out more at: Happy World Bee Day - World Bee Day on 20 May - as well as initiatives such as "Bienenretter", which are committed to protecting our bees.
